LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Have you heard people saying If you shave your hair, it will grow back darker, coarser and faster? That is a medical myth. And researchers at the Indiana School of Medicine set out to prove it.
They found that when you compare shaven and unshaven skin, there's no difference in the growth rate or color as it grows back. The research team says shaved hair may appear thicker because as it pokes through the skin, the tip has a blunt edge. But unshaved hair eventually dulls again and tapers at the edge. So it just looks a little lighter before it is shaved off.
