Trial Begins for Man Accused of Molesting a Child

The trial began on Monday for a former Lubbock daycare operator charged with indecency with a child. 50 year-old Luther Parker Hinesly is accused of touching a two year-old child inappropriately. It allegedly happened two years ago while Hinesly owned and operated the Platinum Learning Center at 147th St. and Slide Road. Attorneys for both sides picked jurors and gave opening statements Monday.

In a Garza County Courthouse, a man pleaded guilty to kidnapping his own son. Greg Soto, Jr. will now spend the next 25 years in prison for kidnapping, assault, and burglary charges. On June 16th, Soto allegedly beat his ex-wife, Isela Gomez, and then kidnapped his four year-old son, Sammy. That started a cross country search that ended 10 days later in Minnesota. Sammy was returned unharmed to his mother.
