Nurse Family Partnership Program at TTUHSC aims to help new mothers

Posted:

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - You have probably heard this before, but it's true and a little scary, "Babies don't come with instructions". That's why a new program at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center School of Nursing is so exciting.

The program has been awarded a grant worth more than $850,000 to provide instructions, so to speak, to new mothers. It's even better than a book, however, because this help comes one on one. It is kind of like having your own nurse partner in getting this new life started right.  In the Nurse Family Partnership Program, an experienced registered nurse will work with each pregnant woman and her family for 30 months to improve pregnancy outcomes and the child's development.

If you would like more information on this, contact the Larry Combest Wellness Center at 301 40th Street or call (806)743-9355.
