LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's annual Red-Black Game gets underway Saturday, surrounded by a myriad of events involving the game and other Red Raider sports programs throughout the weekend. In addition to the spring game, Texas Tech baseball, softball and men's tennis all will host Big 12 competition this weekend.
The Red-Black game kicks off at 1 p.m., preceded by a free kid's clinic from 11-11:30 a.m. and the alumni game from 11:30-noon. Each event will take place on the turf of Jones AT&T Stadium, and the kid's clinic will involve current members of the Red Raider Football team. Admission is free. Inflatable games will be set up in the Raider Alley area next to the Frazier Alumni Pavilion and will open at 11 a.m. Lubbock Radio Group will provide a live remote from the stadium and fans are encouraged to tailgate in the parking lot between Jones AT&T Stadium and City Bank Coliseum.
Following the spring game the annual autograph signing will take place on the field. Roster cards and posters will be available to fans at the game and the Double T Zone will set up a booth at midfield for fans looking for something additional to get autographed or those just looking to improve their Tech wardrobe. All Texas Tech players and head coach Mike Leach will be on hand to sign autographs.
Texas Tech's bi-annual garage sale, featuring new and used equipment from each of the department's 17 sport programs, begins Friday and runs through Saturday in the lobby of the west side stadium building. Times are Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday from 1-6 p.m.
Texas Tech Baseball hosts Kansas this weekend, beginning with a 6:30 p.m. first pitch Friday at Dan Law Field. The teams face off Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. Fans presenting their Red-Black Game roster cards at the entrance will receive one ticket at half price.
The No. 35 men's tennis program faces No. 31 Oklahoma State on Friday at the McLeod Tennis Center at 6 p.m. and hosts No. 31 Oklahoma State on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Red Raider softball team hosts Missouri Saturday and Sunday at Rocky Johnson Field at 2 p.m. and noon, respectively.
