KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The top six teams hold their positions in the sixth edition of the 2009 NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, announced today (April 14). Lubbock Christian is No. 1 for the fourth consecutive poll earning all 22 first-place votes and a total of 622 points. On a 10-game winning streak, the Chaps are 36-4 on the year and are one of three Sooner Athletic Conference teams in the Top 25.
No. 2 Oklahoma City holds for the fourth straight poll and is 40-5 on the season. Southern Poly State (Ga.) is at No. 3 again and has been ranked in the Top 10 the last five straight polls. Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) is at No. 4 while Union (Ky.) earns the No. 5 spot.
After a four-week hiatus, Cumberland (Tenn.) claims the No. 21 slot. Two other teams are in the national ranking after sitting out last week, No. 24 Lindenwood (Mo.) and No. 25 Spring Arbor (Mich.).The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the 24 conferences, independents and unaffiliated groups. The seventh regular season Top 25 poll will be announced on April 21.
