PLAINVIEW, TX - A crowd of over 900 elementary school children from Plainview saw the Wayland Baptist Pioneers defeat West Texas A&M 12-3 on a windy Tuesday afternoon at Wilder Field. The Pioneers picked up 17 hits off eight Buffalo pitchers, while the WBU pitching staff held the visitors to five hits.
Wayland senior Todd Jeffress improved his record to 4-4 on the season with three shutout innings. Billy Zeleznak got the loss for the Buffs.
At the plate, Brett Cook got four hits for the Pioneers, who improved their record to 33-10 on the season. Franky Busani and Courtney Williams had three hits each. Busani belted out his 17 home run of the season in the eighth. Other long balls came off the bats of Eddie Allen for the Pioneers and Will McLaughlin for WTA&MU.
The Buffaloes are now 19-27.
