Trinity Christian's Kennedy Signs With LCU

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Lubbock Christian University Athletic Department and men's basketball head coach John Copeland is excited to announce that Tyler Kennedy of Trinity Christian High School in Lubbock has signed with the Chaparrals basketball program beginning with the 2009-2010 school term.  The announcement and signing took place Wednesday afternoon in front of family and friends at Trinity Christian High School.

Kennedy is a 6'1" guard who played at Trinity under former Texas Tech basketball player Todd Duncan.  He averaged just over ten points a game as a junior, and this season, he was named the TAPPS District 1-4A Most Valuable Player.  Kennedy averaged over 19 points a game and was sharp from three-point range with a 48.7% shooting percentage from beyond the arch.  Leading the Lions to another playoff season, Kennedy's efforts placed him on the 2009 Lubbock Avalanche Journal All-City Basketball Team.

The signing marks the first new commitment for the Chaps 2009-2010 incoming class.  LCU is preparing to build off a 14-16 season in which they made their second consecutive appearance to the second round of the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament.
