Texas Tech drops game to Longhorns, 2-0

LUBBOCK, Texas - The University of Texas Longhorns defeated the Texas Tech Red Raiders, 2-0, in front of 310 fans Wednesday afternoon at Rocky Johnson Field. Longhorn pitcher Brittany Barnhill gave up only three hits to Texas Tech to pick up her 20th win of the season, while Ashly Jacob pitched the complete game loss for the Red Raiders.

Junior pitcher Ashly Jacobs got off to a great start sending the Longhorns (32-14/8-4) down in order to start the game in the top of the first. The Red Raiders (14-34/2-10) also came out swinging, when Elizabeth Eimen opened with a single up the middle followed by a successful sacrifice bunt by Stephanie Drewry. Megan Shupp followed that up getting hit by a pitch, but Tech was unable to plate any runners.

With no score through three innings, Texas got on the board courtesy of a double by Barnhill and a double by Nadia Taylor to score Barnhill, giving Texas a one run lead. The Longhorns got another run in the sixth courtesy of a passed ball to take the advantage, 2-0.

Tech was unable to rally, dropping the game to Texas, 2-0.

Eimen, Skyler Peterson, and Emily Bledsoe managed to get the only three hits for Texas Tech on the day. Jacobs was charged with the loss and drops to 9-18 on the year.
