LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Lubbock jury decided Cody Ramirez must serve life in prison for a shooting in which no one was seriously injured.

It was part of a series of violent events that started with an attempted robbery of the "Texas Game Room" in December 2006. Police chased Ramirez on foot after the robbery and they say Ramirez shot at an officer nine times.  The officer says his leg was grazed and his pants were damaged.  But there was no serious injury.

Ramirez' defense claims that the young man had no choice but to participate because his uncle threatened to kill him otherwise.  Jurors took very little stock in that claim.  It took them three hours to decide that his punishment should be life in prison. This is the same jury that convicted him on Wednesday.
