LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A "Chamber fly-in," that's what one Lubbock Chamber of Commerce member called the upcoming trip to D.C.
While visiting our nation's capitol, the chamber is set to discuss issues affecting the Lubbock economy, but what are these issues?
The chamber's agenda will include discussion on topics such as implementation of the 2008 Farm Bill. They will also encourage officials to support area research funding at Texas Tech as well as agriculture research
"I think it's important to take the business community up and have people within the business community talk to our elected officials about how important agriculture is for the Lubbock economy," chamber member, Norma Johnson said.
She said the main goal of the trip is to represent the businesses of Lubbock. In her tenth trip, Johnson said they will cover topics such as health care and transportation funding for Lubbock.
The chamber will wrap up the trip by joining the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to present representative Randy Neugebauer with their annual Spirit of Enterprise award. The award is given to members of Congress whose voting records reflect business-friendly voting.
The chamber will be D.C. bound on Monday and will return to the Hub City on Wednesday.
