LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Season tickets for the 2009 Red Raider football campaign go on sale to the general public Tuesday. The ticket office reported that 75 percent of last year's season ticket total was renewed during the early renewal period, reflecting 22,500 season tickets sold to-date, which is ahead of last year's renewal pace. This number does not include the number of seats sold on a season basis to the Texas Tech student body that accounts for an additional 11,641 season tickets.
Texas Tech also is announcing a new family plan, which includes four reserved seats to the North Dakota, Rice, New Mexico, Kansas State and Kansas games in section 11 for $400. Each additional pack is $100. The minimum purchase is four seats.
"We are excited to offer this limited opportunity to Texas Tech families," said Craig Wells, Senior Associate Athletic Director and Chief of Staff. "We realize the cost of season football tickets may often price some folks out of the opportunity to see Texas Tech play live, so we looked to create a package that included enough games that families felt more like season ticket holders, but at the same time allowed us to realize the revenue we needed to generate from those seats by selling the Texas A&M and Oklahoma games on an individual basis. Section 11 is a great section, very close to the field and all the action."
Texas Tech opens the 2009 home season Sept. 5 against North Dakota and hosts Rice for the second non-conference home game Sept. 12 at Jones AT&T Stadium. The Red Raiders face New Mexico on Oct. 3 to wrap up the non-conference home slate. The home conference schedule gets underway with an Oct. 10 homecoming date against Kansas State, an Oct. 24 meeting with Texas A&M, and wraps up with Kansas on Oct. 31. The final home game of the season is scheduled for Nov. 21 when the Red Raiders face off with Oklahoma.
