LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Texas Tech is under fire for using live cats in training procedures.
People for the ethical treatment of animals, or PETA, filed a complaint with the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center urging the school to replace the animals with medical simulation tools. The request comes after PETA obtained documents through an open records request revealing that Tech purchased cats from Odessa Animal Control as recently as the fall of 2008.
Course participants at Tech allegedly used the cats for intubation procedures.
