LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - There is some good news for women in the fight against breast cancer. According to a study from Marshall University, adding walnuts to your diet as a healthy snack may lower your risk of breast cancer.
Researchers found that mice that were fed two ounces of walnuts a day had fewer breast tumors compared to those who were not given any walnuts. They discovered that the mice with the walnut diet had noticeably smaller and slower growing tumors versus the mice that were not eating walnuts.
Experts believe the Omega-3 fatty acids in walnuts offer some protection against the growth of tumors. So add some walnuts to your diet, and start enjoying the health benefits that may come.
