State historical marker goes up in Aztlan Park

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A new state historical marker celebrates the contribution of migrant workers in building the early Lubbock economy.

Mexican Americans sometimes lived in labor camps in the area we now call the Canyon Lakes.  As one example of their contribution, they helped Lubbock to smash the state record for cotton production back in 1920.

The marker went up Thursday in Aztlan Park, 1st Street and Avenue K.
