Arbor Day celebration

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The final Friday of April is the day our nation calls Arbor Day and Lubbock celebrated with a Trees Across Texas ceremony.

Former councilman T.J. Patterson and Dr. A.E. Quest created the tree exchange program with other Texas cities in 2000. This year's tree exchange was with the city of Odessa, and a Choke Cherry Tree was planted in honor of that West Texas City.

The Quest Memorial Grove is located in the Buddy Holly Recreation Area east of North University on Canyon Lake Drive.
