Swine flu explained

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Federal officials are concerned about a new strain of flu that's never been seen before.  It's called the swine flu and it's already killed 60 people in Mexico, with eight cases have been reported in the US with no deaths.

The only place it has shown up in Texas is San Antonio, where a father and daughter fell ill, but have recovered. Even though it's called the swine flu, scientists are finding genetic elements in this new strain that come from birds and even humans, which explains why some patients have had no contact with pigs.

The CDC wants people to be aware, but not afraid. CDC says they are working very hard to learn how to control this before it spreads any further.
