LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - On Sunday night NewsChannel 11 unveiled its new hour-long newscast. Viewers will still get all the news weather and sports that they have come to expect inside a 30 minute newscast. "However, this is an added opportunity to serve viewers with even more content in the second half hour," says NewsChannel 11 News Director Benji Snead.
Many times a TV story is limited to two minutes or less. Often a TV story is 45 seconds or less. "This will give us more opportunities to stay with a deserving story," says Executive Producer James Clark.
"This is part of our continued commitment to add local news to our programming line-up," says General Manager Dan Jackson. NewsChannel 11 added an additional half hour to the Daybreak Today morning show last year. "At a time in our industry when others are reducing staff and resources, we continue to grow our news distribution on the air, on-line, and to mobile devices." says Jackson.
All other NewsChannel 11 newscasts remain the same length as before. Only the Sunday 10 p.m. has expanded in this current change.
