UIL tries to recover some lost athletic events from Swine Flu scare

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The UIL or University Interscholastic League will go forward with regional track competitions.  This means the state meet will be in June.  The decision came late Thursday, which is a change from the UIL announcement earlier this week.

The UIL had cancelled all events including regional's until May 11th.  But now after public pressure the UIL is looking to restore regional track competitions.  However, the UIL will stick with its original plan to postpone athletic events through May 11th.

So this means delaying regional competitions that would have occurred in the month of May.  The state meet will now be June 5th and 6th on the University of Texas campus.

The 1A Region 1 Meet will be May 12th and 13th at South Plains College.

The Region 1 3A and 5A Meet won't take place until May 22nd and 23rd at Texas Tech since they host the Big 12 Championships the week before.
