Preventing Charity Scams

The next four weeks or so are known as the season of giving. Many local charities depend on your giving to meet the needs of their clients. But, how do you know that the charity is a legitimate one? According to the Better Business Bureau, there are few guidelines to go by when making a donation.

According to the Better Business Bureau, you can prevent yourself from falling victim to a charity scam by following these guidelines:

  • Ask a lot of questions.
  • Make sure the charity is registered with the city.
  • Check the charity through the Better Business Bureau, and if an offer sounds too good to be true it probably is.
