One Lubbock man's 30 day political quest to oust a councilman is almost over. Edward Estrada and hundreds of other District 4 citizens want Frank Morrison out of office. Estrada spent most of Tuesday picking up petitions from different volunteers. Estrada has counted 915 signatures so far. He still needs to count more than a dozen more petitions. Estrada began the petition because he was frustrated with Councilman Morrison. About eight months ago, Morrison moved out of the district he represents. Estrada must turn in 1,700 signatures by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday in order to start the process to oust Morrison.
Tuesday morning, a Lubbock family escaped a fire in their home. It happened at 5609 Emory around 6:45. When the Lubbock Fire Department arrived, they found flames burning through the roof of the garage. Due to the damage to the home, the family will have to stay elsewhere. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Starting Tuesday, you can see a display of Lights in the Canyon. The event this year will replace Lights on Broadway. It starts November 26th and runs through December 31st. The entrance of the drive-thru display starts at the Mackenzie Park entrance off East Broadway.
