Morton teen killed in car accident - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

TATUM, NM (KRQE) - A car accident in New Mexico takes the life of a Morton, Texas teen. Myra Hernandez, 18, died at a Lubbock hospital after she was ejected from the car she was riding in near Tatum, New Mexico 10:00 p.m. Friday.

The driver, Cynthia Lujan-Benavidez, also from Morton, remained in the hospital at last report. Authorities told KRQE-TV the two girls were on State Road 125, northeast of Tatum, when they swerved to avoid a deer. Investigators say Hernandez was not wearing a seat belt.
