LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - According to the Texas Attorney General, the Frenship School District does not have to reveal details of a federal investigation; at least not at this time.
Back on February 3rd, an informant who claimed she was a disgruntled employee told NewsChannel 11 that the district was under investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor for "wage and hour" violations.
The A.G.'s office told NewsChannel 11 in writing that Frenship does not have to disclose public records in the matter. This comes after we made an open records request. The district appealed for permission to not honor the request.
We do have some details from the A.G.'s letter to NewsChannel 11. For example, we know the Department of Labor asked Frenship to perform a "self audit." We will try to get some indication of when the audit is complete and then request the records again.
