Rocket Re-entering Atmosphere Mistaken for Meteor Shower

It was slower than a shooting star, but faster than a plane. The mysterious light in the sky over the Pacific Northwest had people calling TV and radio station around the region. They also called the Federal Aviation Administration.

Almost all thought it was a meteor shower. They were wrong.

The U.S. Strategic Command in Omaha, Nebraska and the North American Aerospace Defense Command say it was a Russian rocket falling back to Earth. A spokesman for the Canadian navy says the space junk could be seen across much of western Canada and possibly as far inland as Montana.
