Police say driver of truck that hit Lubbock teen not at fault


LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Police say a Lubbock teen hit yesterday afternoon failed to yield the right of way at the cross walk. A pickup truck hit 13-year-old Nicholas Zavala just before five o'clock as he was crossing Slide at 79th Street.

Lubbock Police told us that several witnesses say the driver of the truck did not run a red light. Meanwhile, Zavala continues his recovery at University Medical Center. Doctors upgraded his condition from critical to serious.

Lubbock teen remains hospitalized following wreck
EMS rushed Nicholas Zavala, 13, to University Medical Center just before 5:00 p.m. Wednesday.  Police tell us Zavala was crossing at Slide Road and 79th Street around 4:45 p.m., when a red Ford pick-up hit him.
