LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Over a million Americans use testosterone gels and now the FDA is issuing a warning - not for the user but for anyone, especially children, who come in contact with that gel.
The gels, called Androgel and Testim, are for men who have very low testosterone or who have stopped producing it altogether. Users rub the gels onto their arms or shoulders. But the FDA has received reports that youngsters, mostly under age 5, who touched a person wearing that gel are suffering health problems including premature sexual development and aggressive behavior.
So the FDA is now requiring a black box warning on those topical gets to explain the risk of secondary exposure.
