LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Swine flu cases have swelled to more than 1600 hundred in this country and if the probable cases move in the ‘yes' column, that number could top 2500. CDC officials say the virus is still acting like a seasonal flu but is just late in the season.
One thing is different, though, this flu has the added symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea. On the bright side, a Harvard study says because of this outbreak, more people are adopting better hygiene. Acting Director of the CDC Richard Besser, M.D., said, "If they can make hand washing something that's routine, if they can make covering their cough appropriately something that's routine- that will protect them not just from influenza, but from so many respiratory infections that are spread the same way".
That Harvard poll also found that 14% of Americans have stopped shaking hands with people and 12% said they have stopped hugging or kissing close friends or relatives.
