Lubbock, TX - Texas Tech head coach Pat Knight announced the Red Raider 2009 - 2010 non-conference schedule today. The fourteen game schedule includes ten home games and four away games.
The Red Raiders open their 2009-2010 season on Friday, November 13 as host of the Duel in the Desert event sponsored by Basketball Travelers, Inc.
Texas Tech and Basketball Travelers, Inc. will co-produce this three-game Multiple Team Event (MTE) tournament held at the United Spirit Arena in Lubbock. Oregon State (Pac-10), South Dakota (Great West), and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Southland) round out the field. Each team will play one game on November 13, 14, and 15. Team pairings for the three-day event are still to be determined.
The Red Raiders then host the Northwestern State Demons from Natchitoches, Louisiana, on Thursday, November 19, and the Lamar Cardinals on Saturday, November 21.
The Raiders make their first of four road trips on Tuesday, November 24 when they meet the Lumberjacks of Stephen F. Austin.
Texas Tech returns to the United Spirit Arena on Saturday, November 28 as they take on the Samford Bulldogs from Birmingham, Alabama.
The Red Raiders host their second of three Pac-10 opponents when the Huskies of the University of Washington are in Lubbock on Thursday, December 3.
Tech is on the road for two games as they face the TCU Horned Frogs on Tuesday, December 8, in Fort Worth, Texas, and the Wichita State Shockers in Wichita, Kansas, on Saturday, December 19.
Texas Tech will host their third Pac-10 opponent of the non-conference portion of the season when Stanford is at the United Spirit Arena on Tuesday, December 22.
The final road game of the 2009-2010 non-conference schedule finds the Red Raiders visiting the Lobos of New Mexico on Tuesday, December 29.
The Red Raiders close out the non-conference portion of their 2009-2010 schedule with two home games. The Cowboys of McNeese State from Lake Charles, Louisiana, are in the United Spirit Arena on Friday, January 1, and the UTEP Miners are the final non-conference opponent for the Red Raiders on Sunday, January 3.
