Donald Haragan Named as Texas Tech Interim President

Former Texas Tech President Donald Haragan will serve as the universities Interim President. Tech Chancellor Dr. David Smith made the announcement on Monday evening.

NewsChannel 11 first told you two weeks ago that President David Schmidly was leaving Tech to serve as President and CEO of the Oklahoma State University system. Schmidly's last day is December 31st.

Haragan will serve as interim until the tech board of regents can find Schmidly's permanent replacement. Dr. Haragan served as Tech's President from 1996 to 2000. He is currently a Professor of Atmospheric Science in the Honor's College.

Haragan played a key role in creating tech's student exchange program in Spain.
