Instead of cutting routes, Citibus may increase the cost you pay to ride, up to four times as much. The Lubbock Public Transit Advisory Board will vote on a proposal Tuesday to raise evening rates to $8. The increase would start after 6:40 p.m. The current rate is $2 before 9:20 p.m. and $3 after that.
Citibus lost more than $1-million in federal and state funding after Lubbock's population surpassed 200,000. They had considered cutting the evening routes all together, but instead John Wilson with Citibus, says the board will likely approve the rate increase to keep the late buses running.
