Two suspects wanted in kidnapping case

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Police need your help to find two suspects that were involved in a home invasion and kidnapping in West Lubbock.

The incident happened at the Hunter's Way Apartments in the 5500 block of 56th Street around 10:30 Monday night. Police say two black men armed with a gun broke into apartment 912, tied up 26-year-old Jose Lucia, kidnapped his girlfriend 32-year-old Wendy Martinez and took off in her car.

Lubbock Police say Martinez was blindfolded and kidnapped in her 2006 white Hummer H3 Monday evening. "The victim was employed by a bank in town and the suspects did make mention that they knew about that and they were going to try to get some money that way," said Lubbock Police Lt. Neal Baron.

Martinez told police she was taken to the bank where she works and the suspects withdrew money from her account. Police say they made several other stops, but Martinez was not sure where. "Witness that may have seen that vehicle since the suspects apparently drove the victim around in the vehicle for some time before dropping her off in the county," said Lt. Baron.

They ended up near 337 FM 1729. The two men abandoned the Hummer H3 and Martinez was able to get away to a nearby house and call police. "She was transported to UMC for minor injuries and we are in the process of going through her vehicle for evidence as well as processing the evidence that was recovered at the apartment," said Lt. Baron.

Police tell us neither Martinez nor Lucia knew the two suspects. "We're not sure at this point how much planning and preparation at this point went into this criminal act but it never hurts for any employees at any bank or financial institution to be aware of their surroundings and make sure that no one is following them and make sure they keep their doors locked and secure at night," said Lt. Baron.

The suspects are described as two black men with red bandanas on their faces. One is about 5'8" and 215 pounds, wearing blue baggy jeans and a black t-shirt. The second suspect is about 6'2" and 240 pounds, wearing blue baggy pants and a white tank top.
