LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - This is the weekend for the Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis.
There's a good reason for that name - because 90 percent of the money from this fundraiser goes to research, and Nancy Sharp, the mother of a child with CF, says she has witnessed the benefits of that research in watching her daughter, Sara, grow up.
"Sara, whose life expectancy when she was diagnosed, her doctor said she won't live to her 13th birthday. She is now 21 and the life expectancy has been stretched to 37, the median age. So, things are happening in the lab that's making a huge difference in savings lives," says Nancy.
The Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis is set for this Saturday, May 16 at Lubbock Christian University. Registration is at 8:30 a.m. and the walk starts at 9:30 a.m.
