LAMESA, TX (KCBD) - In these hard economic times when so many rural hospitals are closing, Lamesa, Texas is celebrating the opening of a brand new hospital. Thanks to a 14-million dollar bond passed by Dawson County taxpayers, this new hospital is breathing new life into rural health care.
Medical Arts Hospital Public Relations Coordinator Melissa Matlock says, "It's nearly twice the size of the old one. We're able to offer expanded care for radiology. We have a 16 Slice CT that's brand new. We'll be bringing MRI, nuclear medicine, and things we've never done before."
It's been seven years in the making and on Saturday May 16th, they'll move everything, including patients from the 50-year-old hospital into the new Medical Arts Hospital. The new facility is located at 2200 North Bryan.
