Anita Perry addresses graduates

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The first lady of Texas, Anita Perry, was in Lubbock Saturday to speak at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center's commencement ceremony.  "You can't imagine how proud and humbled I was when I heard that the Texas higher education coordinating board recently announced that the Anita Thigpen Perry School of Nursing is number one in the state for 2008 graduation performance," Perry said.

The Texas Tech University System Board of Regents honored Perry for her commitment in health care and educating future nurses when they named the school of nursing after her in August of last year. The health sciences center graduated students from each of its regional campuses in nursing, pharmacy, medicine and the graduate school of biomedical sciences.
