French fry grease replaces gas in family trip through Lubbock

By James Clark | email

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Massachusetts family drops by Lubbock in their quest to protect the earth. The McCullough family is part of a project called Our Renewable Nation. They're driving a vehicle powered by ordinary used grease.

The McCullough's are putting used french fry grease into the gas tank - but don't try this at home.  You either have to modify the grease or modify the engine to make this work.

The McCulloughs are making a documentary and showing folks how to get that done.  "We're trying to inspire kids to be interested in those things and be innovative and creative in their features," says Jennifer McCullough.

The McCullough's made a free presentation Monday night at a Lubbock area church. If you missed it, click here.
