Lubbock Law Enforcement carrying the Special Olympics torch

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Some members of Lubbock Law enforcement was out Wednesday morning in full force, but not for any crime commited in Lubbock, it was for a special cause.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics' largest fundraiser and public awareness vehicle. The Torch Run is an actual running event where officers and athletes run the Special Olympics "Flame of Hope" to the Opening Ceremonies of local competitions, or State, or Provencial or World Summer or Winter Games.

The Lubbock Law enforcement team that is participating left Lubbock at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. They will be running to Abilene and the run ends in Arlington.

This run will kick off the Special Olympics games there.
