LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - 2-year-old Kyra Nesbitt has been upgraded to good condition at Covenant Hospital after a major accident that happened on Tuesday morning.
The accident happened at the intersection of FM 2641 and County Road 1500 around 10 a.m., involving a Suburban and a Lubbock County Sheriff's Deputy's vehicle.
Investigators say it appeared the SUV did not stop at a stop sign. Hannah Spoon, 3 died in the accident. She was riding in the SUV driven by Kimberly Flores of Littlefield, who suffered minor injuries. Three others riding in the SUV were not injured. Lubbock County Sheriff's Deputy Ken Mull was treated and released from University Medical Center.
DPS tells us Spoon and Nesbitt were not in car seats and were ejected from the Suburban. Flores was also not wearing a seat belt. Three others were not injured but were wearing seat belts. They included a 7-year-old boy, a 6-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man.
Gonzalez says this accident is under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
