Alleged Crime Spree Stretches to Oklahoma and Ends Back in Texas

Robbery, kidnapping and rape. Those are the charges a 28 year-old Post man could face after a crime spree that stretched from Lubbock to Oklahoma. Texas Ranger, Jay Foster, says it started last Saturday when Gene Messer Hyundai in Lubbock allowed Jack Tremayne Sapp to take a car for a test drive. Sapp did not return.

So, on Monday Gene Messer reported the car stolen. On that same day, according to Foster, Sapp stopped in Childress. That's where Foster says Sapp robbed a video store, kidnapped a 22-year-old pregnant woman at knife point and raped her. Sapp let the girl go and she reported the incident to Childress police, who issued a warrant for his arrest.

On Tuesday, police in Altus, Oklahoma spotted the car and arrested Sapp. He agreed to come back to Texas and Foster took him to the Childress County Jail. Friday night, police were holding Jack Tremayne Sapp on $250,000 bond. Sapp only faces aggravated robbery charges, but Foster says he will likely also be charged with aggravated kidnapping and sexual assault.
