LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The number of confirmed cases of swine flu in this country is up to 6500 and the CDC says that's still just the tip of the iceberg. They are expecting 100,000 cases before this is over.
In light of that, two things happened in Washington Friday. First, the government announced it's putting a billion dollars into developing a vaccine this summer. Second, Elmo has spoken. The government is producing TV spots starring Elmo in class, reminding kids that "this" is how you fight the flu. Meanwhile, the world health organization has decided to leave its health alert at phase five, indicating swine flu is still not a pandemic yet.
