LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - It's natural for women to gain weight during pregnancy, but when their husbands also put on the pounds it's called ‘sympathy weight'. Now a new poll shows that while mother and baby are growing, dad puts on an average of 14 pounds.
That's according to a survey of 5000 men, who said they just ate more during the pregnancy because they didn't want the mother-to-be to feel so bad about eating so much. Forty percent of the dads said they ate more during the pregnancy because there was just more stuff in the house to eat.
After the baby was born, though, when the new moms tried to lose weight, only a third of the new dads made the same effort.
