Plainview controlling mosquito population - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

PLAINVIEW, TX (KCBD) As the weather warms, and with severe weather season in full swing mosquitoes are beginning to populate the area. 

In Plainview, the Street Department recently treated areas of standing water with larvicide. That's according to the Plainview Daily Herald. The Herald quotes Director of Public Works Mike Gilliland as saying the City began ground spraying in the first week of May. 

Plainview has some advice that's good for all of us, even here in Lubbock:

• Keep your lawns mowed.
• Empty items that can hold standing water.
• Keep swimming pools clean and chlorinated.
