LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - We can now give you the name of the next Superintendent for Frenship schools. Tuesday evening the school board named David Vroonland as the lone finalist for that job.
"Yes, it's an exciting moment for me," says Vroonland. "To become part of this district and become part of their growth and bring my children here to experience the performance of the district both athletically and academically is very exciting."
Vroonland cannot sign a contract with the district until after a 21-day waiting period. That's state law. Vroonland replaces John Thomas who will take a job at the Education Service Center in Midland.
Vroonland says he started teaching in Carrolton in the mid 1980's. He also taught in Washington D.C. and Japan. He came back to Texas in the late 90's for his first administrative job, which was a middle school Principal in Wichita Falls.
He was the first Principal of a brand new middle school in Allen. Later he became an Assistant Superintendent in Allen. And now he's coming to Frenship.
