Lubbock TX (KCBD) - Word broke Wednesday night that Governor Rick Perry signed a bill inspired by the plight of a man with Lubbock ties. Texas Tech student Timothy Cole was wrongfully convicted of rape in 1985.
A judge cleared him posthumously earlier this year. Then the legislature passed a bill in his name. It increases compensation for wrongfully convicted people to $80,000 per year for each year of incarceration.
