LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - There's a little more hope in Lubbock, thanks to the South Plains Food Bank. The Food Bank opened its "Kitchen of Hope" Thursday at 6604 I27, in the old Kettle building. After a renovation, the building now houses the cooking facilities and offices needed to provide up to 1,000 meals per day.
"This program is designed for children who otherwise wouldn't normally have access to healthy meals throughout the day," says David Weaver with the South Plains Food Bank.
Currently, the Food Bank provides about 600 meals through the 16 Kids Cafe sites and its summer feeding program.
