LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Attention swimming pool and sun seekers; Lubbock's municipal pools will open Tuesday, June 2 at 1:00 p.m. for the 2009 season.
The municipal pools that are now open are:
- Clapp Pool, 46th & Avenue U, (806) 767-2736: Amenities include a 90' water slide, concession stand, lifeguards, showers, diving boards, shade umbrellas and deck chairs. This pool is ADA accessible.
- Mae Simmons Pool, 24th & MLK, (806) 767-2732: Amenities include a 90' water slide, concession stand, lifeguards, showers, shade umbrellas, diving boards, and deck chairs.
- Maxey Pool, 4007 30th Street, (806) 767-3739: Amenities include a concession stand, lifeguards, showers, diving boards, shade umbrella, deck chairs, and shade trees.
- Montelongo Pool, 3200 Bates Street, (806) 767-2734: Amenities include a 90' water slide, concession stand, lifeguards, showers, diving boards, deck chairs, shade umbrellas, a separate wading pool, and zero depth entry into main pool. This pool is ADA accessible.
Hours of operation:
- Tuesdays 1:00-7:30 p.m.
- Wednesdays through Sundays 1:00-6:00 p.m.
Entrance fees are $1.50 for youth (17 and under) and $2 for adults, and group rates are available for groups of 35 or more.
Pool rentals are available for parties Thursday-Sunday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. by calling (806) 775-2673.
For those who love to swim, Summer Passes are available at the Parks and Recreation Office at 1010 9th Street, Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and at each of the pools. These passes are great for kids and adults alike and are priced to be affordable. Summer Passes are as follows:
- Family Pass - Good All Summer! Cost: $125 for a family of four
- Individual Pass - Good All Summer! Cost: $50 for children and $75 for adults
- 30-Day Pass - Cost: $30 for children and $45 for adults
- 7-Day Pass - Cost: $8 for children and $12 for adults
