Goin' Band is Not Going

For the first time in about 30 years, the Goin' Band from Raiderland will not be traveling with the Red Raiders to this year's bowl game. The band had a tentative itinerary planned if the bowl bid came from Houston, but unfortunately, there is not enough money in Tech's budget to send the entire band to Florida.

"This afternoon, we had our bowl meeting and the athletic department decided to send 75 band members with the football team on the 21st, and we're excited to send a pep band," says Keith Bearden, the TTU Band Director.

Bearden also says that a pep band is a group of band members that will play spirit songs from the stands, this group will not march at half time. The bowl decision came down so late in the year, there just wasn't enough time for Tech to prepare or budget for the full band of more than 400 members to make the trip to Florida.
