LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A high speed chase down Interstate-27 landed two people in police custody Saturday afternoon. Abernathy Police tell us a clerk at Dollar General caught two people shop lifting around 1:30 p.m. Saturday.  The clerk tried to stop them, but the suspects fled.

When Abernathy Police tried to pull their car over, the suspects wouldn't stop. That's when the pursuit began down the interstate. It ended at the Texas Motor Inn near North Loop 289 when the suspects flipped their car. Authorities tell us both suspects got out of the car and ran, but they were eventually taken into custody.

"During the pursuit they were anywhere from 80 to 100 miles per hour. We ran stop sings and intersections and went around vehicles. When they skidded they almost could have caused another accident. So, they put several, several people in danger during this pursuit," Abernathy Police Sergeant Mark Owen said.

Authorities took Brenda Perez and Ronnie Ramos, both of Lubbock, into custody. They suffered minor injuries in the wreck. DPS, Lubbock County Deputies, and Lubbock Police assisted in the capture.
