LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - New information Monday on Raymond Romero Jr., the Lubbock County Sheriff's Department jail deputy who officials in Albuquerque, New Mexico, say shot and killed a man over the weekend. Officials also explain that Romero acted in self defense.
Monday night, Lubbock officials indicate Romero will be treated just like any on-duty officer who is involved in a shooting. That means he'll be put on administrative leave.
Romero's supervisors say they are not worried that he committed a violation, they just want to make sure he's feeling okay and fit for duty before he's back on the job.
