LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The NAIA National Champions will be able to take advantage of night games this next baseball season.
The Lubbock Christian University baseball team will benefit from the east-side renovations of the Jones AT&T Stadium. LCU's Hays Field will receive the stadium lights taken down from that side.
The actual lights may be free, but there are costs that come with installing the concrete bases, wiring and different electric specifications needed to make the transition.
The lights are not the only addition to Hays Field for next season. The AstroTurf will be replaced with RealGrass, an artificial turf similar to Tech's playing field at Dan Law Field. The dugouts and the net will also be renovated.
The costs are expected to be between $60,000 and $70,000, while the cost of construction for the lights is still in the works.
