LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - If I haven't said it out loud yet, I'm against government bailouts, period. And I certainly don't think you and I, the taxpayers, should own any part of a free enterprise business.
I think strong companies survive and weak companies re-organize, which is what GM did this week. Combine that with government involvement and the losers are the dealerships that are being forced to close in the communities they so generously support.
Consider this; we all need a strong and vibrant auto industry. Hopefully, GM can get their act together and not have to ask for another bailout at our expense.
Meanwhile, as I've said before, the best thing you and I can do is continue to support the local businesses - they'll work harder for your business without the offer of a bailout.
