LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Time is running out for area cotton farmers. South Plains farmers have a June 5th or June 10th crop insurance deadline depending on their location.
"That's what they're really focused on right now is just putting seed in the ground. If you don't have your crops planted by the final planting date then you run the risk of having reduced coverage on your insurance purchase that you selected earlier in the year," says Shawn Wade with Plains Cotton Growers.
Cotton, by the way, is a five billion dollar industry for the greater Lubbock area.
